Yacht Registration in Delaware
Register your yacht at the world’s largest yacht registry and enjoy the prestige of the Stars and Stripes flying from your ensign staff.

We recommend that a Delaware Corporation or an LLC should be formed initially.

The registration process can then be initiated. Delaware has an extremely efficient and helpful registry and can usually register a yacht within 2 weeks. It is also one of the most competitively priced. With the yacht owned by a corporation there will be no sales tax, personal tax or any other intangibles to worry about. The owner then has the flexibility of selling the yacht as an asset of the corporation or selling the whole corporation with the yacht as its asset. In the latter case, of course, there is no change of title.

The use of an LLC has particular advantages where there are non-resident owners and managers.

Procedure
In Delaware it is possible to register the vessel for one or three years and the State Registration fee scales are based on the length of the vessel.

A simple form is completed containing all relevant details and specifications of the vessel. This is then sent to the Registry together with an original Bill of Sale which will be retained.

State fees are also levied for the issue of documentation and for the registration of a mortgage.

When a vessel is registered in Delaware the State provides the owner with the documents for the vessel, the Registration Card and also a complete computer printout of the registration. For owners outside the USA a Certificate of Vessel Registration is provided in notarised form.

Please note that, in the case of a corporation, shares in bearer form are not acceptable.
