Isle of Man Aircraft Register Set to Take Off

The Isle of Man Aircraft Registry is on schedule to take off in the spring of 2007.

Enabling legislation has been prepared over the past five months and is now set to be placed before Tynwald, the island’s parliament in January. The legislation is required to put in place the new legal regime governing civil aviation in the Isle of Man in order to implement the island’s international obligations once the Register is established. Some of the legislation is new and some replaces existing instruments.

As news of the forthcoming launch spreads, so the demand for business jets continues to climb: this is the market which the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry is targeting.

Aerospace supplier Honeywell recently forecast that business jet deliveries will break the annual 1,000-aircraft mark for the first time in 2007, up from the record 850 shipments expected this year. Honeywell predicts deliveries of 12,000 business jets worth US$195 billion from 2006-2016.

The Isle of Man Registry needs only a fair slice of that cake to make a success of its new enterprise. ILS is well placed to establish and maintain the corporate structures required to own the aircraft.
