Newsletter | Articles PartyGaming Strengthens Non-US Market Base Isle of Man based PartyGaming is continuing to strengthen its non-United States facing customer base by acquiring the assets, players and gaming contracts associated with Empire Online's (EOL) gaming business and Intercontinental Online Gaming's business and assets. Neither EOL nor Intercontinental accept bets from customers in the US, where the judicial authorities have cracked down on the industry and new laws have been passed to ban online gaming. The group’s overall revenue’s remain healthy despite the loss of its US business. However, PartyGaming said the restructuring of its operations following the anti-online gaming legislation in the US in October is likely to cost in the region of $250 million. The payment for both acquisitions will be by the issue of more than 115 million new PartyGaming shares once both acquisitions are completed. PartyGaming expects the businesses and assets acquired to generate at least $8.5 million ($6 million from EOL and $2.5 million from Intercontinental) Online gaming websites, operated by EOL and Intercontinental, acquired by PartyGaming include NoblePoker.com, Clubdicecasino.com, EnterCasino.com, MissBingo.com, FairPoker.com and MagicBoxCasino.com. Mitch Garber, chief executive of PartyGaming, said: “These acquisitions represent excellent value for our shareholders and are consistent with our strategy. "The addition of a number of well known secondary brands, supported by the agreement with Playtech, will provide opportunities for cross-promotion, increasing customer choice and satisfaction and maximising the long term value of current and future players.” Subject to the acquisition completion it is understood a four year software licensing agreement will also be entered into with Playtech, which is one of the world’s leading companies in its field and hosts the sites being acquired from EOL and Intercontinental. The websites will continue operating as usual and will provide the added advantage of cross-selling opportunities to the current PartyGaming player database. There is comfort that Isle of Man based online gaming operators are able to develop trading despite the USA clampdown. |
