Newsletter | Articles Germany and Jersey Sign Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) Germany and Jersey have signed a TIEA, bringing to sixteen the number of such agreements signed since the beginning of 2007 by jurisdictions committed to working with OECD countries. This is the third TIEA agreement entered into by Jersey, which has similar agreements with the Netherlands and the USA. The signing reaffirms Jersey’s commitment to implementing international standards of transparency and exchange of information in tax matters. The OECD says it welcomes this move by Jersey which continues to negotiate agreements for exchange of information with other OECD countries. Following the entry into force, Germany and Jersey will continue the dialogue to examine what measures could be adopted to further enhance their political and economic relationship, including the further clarification of elements of double taxation, discrimination and other undesired tax barriers. A similar announcement is anticipated in the not too distant future from the Isle of Man, which already has 10 TIEAs and is negotiating a further 10. |
